Account Transfer

Has my account number changed?

You can continue to use the same FXCM username(s) and account number(s) to access your new FOREX.com account(s). All transferred clients have been sent an email confirmation of their account number(s) and username(s). In limited cases where new account number(s) or username(s) are created, email confirmations were sent to confirm the new credentials for your new account.

Why was my account transferred to FOREX.com?

On February 7th, 2017 GAIN Capital Group, LLC (“GAIN Capital”) announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the US customer base of Forex Capital Markets LLC (“FXCM LLC”). Under the terms of the agreement, US customers of FXCM LLC have been transferred to GAIN Capital’s retail trading service, FOREX.com.

When was my account transferred?

On Friday, February 24, 2017, all existing balances and positions were automatically transferred to your new FOREX.com account. Any open positions werew closed at the Bloomberg mid-rate of 16:00 ET and re-established with FOREX.com at the same rate. However, please note that positions on TRY/JPY were not transferred.

If your account was managed by an independent third party money manager pursuant to a Power of Attorney, your account has been transferred to GAIN but your open position(s) have been closed and not reestablished at Forex.com. Clients are free to continue trading their account(s) on a self-directed basis.

Were my stops and limits transferred?

All pending orders, including stop and limit orders, were canceled on the Transfer Date. You can re-establish open orders in your FOREX.com account.

When can I start trading in my new account?

Following the successful transfer of your account, you will receive emails from us informing you of your FOREX.com username(s) and password(s). You may log in to your new account(s) to check account balances and re-establish orders. Trading will be available at market open on Sunday, February 26th at 5pm EST.

Our staff is on hand during the transfer and over the weekend to assist you. We are open from 6am to 8pm on Saturday, February 25th and from 10am on Sunday, February 26th to answer any questions you may have.

I didn't have any funds in my FXCM account prior to transfer

Accounts with no remaining balances were transferred to FOREX.com, unless you positively opted out of the account transfer with FXCM by submitting a withdrawal request to FXCM by February 20th.

If you wish to resume trading, you can fund your new FOREX.com account via MyAccount, our secure online account management portal. Explore funding options.

How can I withdraw transferred funds?

In order to withdraw funds, please log in to our MyAccount portal and submit a withdrawal request.

Any funds transferred from FXCM can be withdrawn via bank wire or personal check. Requests are typically processed within 1-2 business days.

Any new funds deposited in your FOREX.com account can be withdrawn using our standard withdrawal methods depending on the method by which the funds were originally deposited. Click here to access our withdrawal schedule.

What will happen to my IRA account?

If your IRA Custodian has an existing relationship with FOREX.com, your IRA trading account has been transferred to FOREX.com.

Please note: you may not be able to fund your new FOREX.com account until your IRA Custodian authorizes GAIN Capital/FOREX.com as a counterparty. Please contact your IRA Custodian for more information about funding your new FOREX.com account.

Have my margin requirements changed?

Your margin requirements are now set by FOREX.com based on available leverage and the underlying exchange rate of a given currency pair at the time your position is established. View our margin requirements.

For example, in a USD-denominated account, if available leverage on EUR/USD is 2%, the margin requirement when trading 10,000 EUR/USD is 200 EUR. The USD value of this margin requirement will fluctuate based on the rate of EUR/USD.

In the event that available leverage levels are updated, we will make our best effort to contact you and update our website accordingly. The required margin shown in platform is near real time and accurate.

Open positions are required to be fully margined at all times. FOREX.com does not engage in margin calls; you are responsible for monitoring your account and maintaining 100% of required margin at all times to support your open positions.

While our 100% margin requirement and near real-time margin system is designed to limit your trading losses and help ensure that total losses never exceed your total account balance, you do risk incurring losses greater than your account balance, especially during periods of extreme market volatility.

What funding methods do you accept?

FOREX.com accepts the same deposit methods as FXCM for US customers.

You can fund your account via debit card, ACH transfer (eCheck), physical check or bank wire.

You can deposit funds in USD, EUR, GBP, NZD, AUD, CAD and JPY. Please note - all debit card transactions are automatically converted to USD.

The minimum transaction amount for debit cards is $50 or currency equivalent.

For ACH (check) transfers the minimum transaction amount is $250.

Bank wires and personal/business checks do not have a deposit amount minimum.

Please note:

  • For debit card and ACH (eCheck) transactions, the maximum per transaction amount is $10,000. There are no aggregate limits on the amount of funds that can be deposited via debit card in any given month.
  • FOREX.com accepts ACH (eCheck) deposits for initial deposits

Does FOREXcom provide additional charting packages?

Yes, FOREX.com provides customers access to Advanced charting from the FOREXTrader PRO platform. The Advanced charting package is available to all clients.

FOREX.com customers can also request access to FOREXCharts by eSignal.

How do you process rollovers?

Rollovers are done every weekday; Monday through Friday at 17:00 ET and can last for up to 15 minutes. Interest is paid or received only on positions held overnight, not if you open and close a position in the same trading day.

Our roll rates reflect some of the most competitive in the industry. This allows us to keep your rollover costs as low as possible when you pay on the rollover, and maximize your credit when you earn on the rollover.

How does FOREX.com’s auto-liquidation process work?

FOREX.com requires that you maintain 100% of your required margin in your account to help avoid liquidation.

To help limit your trading losses and ensure that your losses never exceed your account balance, our systems monitor your margin in near real-time and will automatically close out your open positions if your account equity falls below the 100% margin requirement.

There are several proactive measures that you can employ to prevent liquidation and manage risk:

  • Actively monitor the status of your open positions.
  • Specify a stop-loss order for each open trade to help limit downside risk. You can specify the stop-loss rate at the time you issue a trade, or add a stop-loss order at any time for any open trade. You can also change your stop-loss orders at any time to take current market prices or other conditions into account. The use of stop loss orders may not necessarily limit your losses.
  • Keep your account funded in excess of your required margin. These extra funds act as a cushion, helping protect you if the market moves against you. If you are in danger of breaching your margin limits, either reduce the size of your position or add funds to your account as soon as possible.
  • Employ lower leverage. You may request a leverage change at any time.

Will my VPS hosting service work on FOREX.com?

Yes, FOREX.com will provide the same Expert Advisor hosting service that was available at FXCM. To request EA hosting service for your transferred FXCM account, please click here.

In order to qualify for EA Hosting you must maintain a minimum of $5,000 in your account and execute at least 10 round trip mini lot trades or equivalent per calendar month. Learn more.

Active Trader

Will my FXCM Active Trader account automatically be transferred to FOREX.com's Active Trader?

If you had an FXCM Active Trader account on the Trading Station platform or if your account balance at the time of transfer was $20,000 or more, you were transferred into a new FOREX.com Active Trader account on the FOREXTrader Pro platform so you can enjoy the best pricing FOREX.com has to offer.

If you had an FXCM Active Trader account on the MetaTrader platform or if your MetaTrader account balance at the time of transfer was $25,000 or more, you were transferred into a new FOREX.com Active Trader account on the MetaTrader platform. What is the Active Trader program?

How does the Active Trader spread reduction work?

As an Active Trader you’ll automatically benefit from an average 15% reduction on our standard spreads. Plus, you'll earn discounts on our most popular markets as you reach monthly volume levels.

Accounts that maintain an average monthly balance of $100,000 in the prior month will automatically start the next month at discount level 2.

Is Active Trader available on MetaTrader?

Yes, FOREX.com offers an Active Trader MT4 account, granting you access to our premium services. Qualifying clients will enjoy reduced pricing on our standard spreads (an average reduction of 9%)*, complimentary trade signals, personalized support, priority service and no account fees. We also provide qualifying clients complimentary EA hosting on a secure professional server at no cost.

If your FXCM MetaTrader account balance is $25,000 or above, we will automatically transfer your account into our high-volume MetaTrader offering. Please keep in mind that in order to retain high-volume account status, you must maintain a minimum average balance of $25,000. Your account may be moved to a standard account if your monthly average balance falls below $25,000 for three consecutive months.

*Average reduction represents the difference between typical FOREX.com retail spreads for 2016 and the $25K level Active Trader MetaTrader spreads.

Can I use FOREXTrader PRO on a Mac?

There are several options for Mac user who would like to download FOREXTrader PRO. Parallels, a 3rd party software, is the fastest, and easiest way to run Windows on your Mac. It allows users to run both Windows and Mac OS at the same time, so it’s easy to toggle between programs on both operating systems.

Can I continue to trade on a 3rd party platform?

Depending on the 3rd party trading platform you used at FXCM, your account has been transferred to either the FOREXTrader PRO suite of platforms or FOREX.com's MetaTrader offering, as communicated to you by FOREX.com prior to account transfer.

NinjaTrader customers can continue to trade on the NinjaTrader platform.

MetaTrader 4

Does FOREX.com provide the same MetaTrader platform that I had at FXCM?

The MetaTrader 4 platform provided by FOREX.com is comparable with the MT4 platform at FXCM. However, you need to uninstall the existing copy of FXCM’s MT4 software and install the new FOREX.com version.

We have emailed you the new MT4 server address to connect your FOREX.com MetaTrader platform to our trading server.

As with your FXCM account, you can trade using Expert Advisors, as well as access mobile applications on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Does FOREX.com offer fixed trailing stops on MetaTrader?

No, FOREX.com’s trailing stop orders work dynamically and move with the market rate with the specific pip distance you indicate. The trailing stop will move up or down, depending on the direction of your trade pip by pip, maintaining the specific distance. If the market rate moves in an unfavorable direction, the trigger rate stays stationary and the distance between this rate and the market rate becomes smaller. If the market rate reaches the trigger rate, your trade will be closed with a stop order.

How do I access my NinjaTrader account at FOREX.com?

You can continue to use the same account number (account code) you had at FXCM to login to your new account. We have created and sent you a new password to access the account.

In order to start trading in your new NinjaTrader account, you will need to request an update to your NinjaTrader license key if you have not already done so. Please email platformsales@ninjatrader.com to initiate the update to your NinjaTrader license key.

Once you have received your new account password from FOREX.com and have confirmation that your NinjaTrader license key has been updated, you will be able to login to your NinjaTrader account connecting to GAIN Capital/FOREX.com. Follow our step-by-step Connection Guide to get started.

Please note that NinjaTrader 7 is currently supported by GAIN Capital/FOREX.com. Support for NinjaTrader 8 is coming soon.
