Bitcoin is the world’s first and most widely traded digital cryptocurrency, and is not connected to or controlled by any government or central bank. Originally established in 2009, Bitcoin is a digitally-encrypted, decentralized currency that is most commonly traded against the US dollar as the currency pair, BTC/USD.
