Professional Client FAQs
What are the requirements of a Professional trader?
We have two Professional accounts available. To apply for Professional account A, you need to have one of the following:
- - Net assets of AUD$2.5 million, or
- - A gross income for each of the last two financial years of at least AUD$250,000
To qualify for Professional account B, you must meet two of the following criteria:
- - A minimum of 40 significantly sized leveraged trades per year*
- - Your portfolio, assets and investments exceed AUD$250,000 **,
- - Worked in a professional position in the financial sector for at least 1 year,
- - Annual gross salary is greater than AUD$125,000.

* Significant size is determined as a minimum notional value of $20,000 on equities or $100,000 on forex, indices and commodities (or currency equivalent), on leveraged market. Please contact [email protected] or 1800 354 182 if you would like us to check if you meet these criteria.
**Examples of acceptable types of portfolio, assets and investments are cash savings, stock portfolio, trading accounts, both cash and leveraged and mutual funds. Please note that we would not accept superannuation funds, non-tradable assets, property, luxury cars and jewellery.
When calculating your net assets remember to include the following: Your home, other properties/land, superannuation, trusts, shares, other investments, savings, value of business, car/boat/other vehicle.
Before you consider trading professionally, we’d recommend ensuring that you have strong experience of the markets, a track record of success, enough time to dedicate to trading and a clear plan. A Professional trading account gives you access to higher leverage and flexible margins but doesn’t feature many of the protections that come with a standard account – including negative balance protection.

Do I still get the same features as a standard account?
As a Professional Trader, you’ll get some of the same features as a standard account – such as our range of markets, award-winning platforms and in-depth analysis – but you’ll waive access to negative balance protection and lower leverage limits. We will also assume you have a higher level of knowledge and experience.
However, as a Pro you’ll get some exclusive benefits on top of our normal offering, including margin rates from 0.25%, monthly cash rebates, access to the credit facility, your own dedicated relationship manager and invitations to hospitality events.
