Tesla Motors, also known as Tesla Inc., is a tradable stock representing the multinational automotive and clean energy company led by CEO Elon Musk. Vehicle service centres, body shops and charging stations specific to its electrical vehicles also make up a portion of the company’s profits.
Founded in 2003, Tesla was not profitable until 2020 due to its electric vehicles’ high production costs. To cover this gap Tesla sold government emission credits it received from green energy initiatives to other automakers that do not make electric vehicles. However, since the company’s first full-year profit in 2020, Tesla has grown profits by expanding production and sales into other markets.
