Bitcoin Analysis: Caution Keeps BTC Below $85K
Despite Bitcoin's attempt to regain ground during the latest trading session, posting gains of more than 1.6%, the move has yet to signal a meaningful recovery in demand. The main reason is that, over recent weeks, price action has continued to develop within a broader phase of indecision, preventing BTC from reclaiming the key psychological barrier around $85,000 in a convincing manner.
For now, this lack of direction coincides with demand indicators that continue to show limited improvement. In addition, caution is becoming increasingly relevant ahead of the release of U.S. inflation data tomorrow, an event that could alter expectations regarding Federal Reserve policy. Unless buying activity begins to recover more consistently and confidence regains momentum, the indecision currently visible on the daily chart could remain a dominant feature of Bitcoin price action in the sessions ahead.
Demand Activity Remains Limited
The market is now one day away from the release of the U.S. CPI inflation report, with expectations pointing to a moderate acceleration in inflationary pressures. Current projections suggest annual CPI could rise to 3.6%, compared with the previous 3.4% reading.
This report is especially important for Bitcoin because it could reshape expectations surrounding U.S. monetary policy over the coming months. An inflation reading above expectations could reinforce the view of a more aggressive Federal Reserve and directly impact the bond market, one of the main competing markets for risk-sensitive assets such as BTC.
Over recent months, a relatively clear relationship has emerged between Treasury yields and Bitcoin's performance. As bond yields have moved toward important highs, demand across the cryptocurrency market has weakened noticeably. By contrast, the modest recovery observed in recent sessions has coincided with a pullback in U.S. bond yields.
This suggests that interest rates remain an important variable for crypto markets. As a result, any inflation surprise that revives expectations of a more aggressive Federal Reserve could support higher bond yields once again and make it more difficult for Bitcoin to regain momentum.

This relationship remains particularly relevant because Bitcoin continues to show sensitivity to movements in the bond market. Despite the recent decline in Treasury yields, demand within the crypto market has yet to show a meaningful recovery.
This can be observed through Open Interest, the indicator that measures the total number of open positions across the market. While Open Interest remains above the $25 billion area, it continues to trade below the highs observed weeks ago, suggesting that the pace of new buying positions remains relatively limited. In other words, market activity continues to reflect a cautious tone ahead of the U.S. inflation release.

This situation matters because Bitcoin's limited activity continues to coincide with an environment where interest rates remain elevated and continue to compete with risk assets for investor capital. For this reason, tomorrow's inflation report could become a key catalyst.
If inflation comes above expectations, markets could once again strengthen expectations of a more restrictive Federal Reserve. Such an outcome could push bond yields higher and further limit the recovery in demand reflected by indicators such as Open Interest. Under that scenario, the current phase of indecision could persist and potentially evolve into a more evident period of weakness for Bitcoin in the short term.
Bitcoin Technical Forecast
Source: StoneX, Tradingview
- Indecision continues to gain relevance: Although Bitcoin spent several months developing a relatively solid bullish structure, recent price action has become considerably more neutral. The market is currently trading within a range bounded by resistance near $86,000 and support around $81,000. So far, price movements have not been strong enough to establish a clear direction and, as long as this remains the case, the current range could continue acting as the dominant structure in the near term.
- MACD: The MACD histogram continues to develop around the 0 neutral line, reflecting an increasingly balanced dynamic in short-term moving-average momentum. This reading continues to support the view that a phase of indecision is becoming more relevant within the market.
- RSI: A similar dynamic can be observed in the RSI, which continues to move sideways around the 50 neutral level. This behavior reflects fading bullish momentum compared with previous weeks and supports the view that the current lack of direction could remain an important feature of Bitcoin's short-term price action.
Key Levels:
- $86,700 – Major Resistance: A recent high that continues to represent the most important upside barrier on the chart. Price action that manages to consolidate above this level could restore relevance to the bullish bias and support the development of a new sequence of higher highs, reinforcing the broader bullish trendline as the dominant technical structure.
- $81,100 – Near-Term Barrier: An important equilibrium zone that coincides with the 50-period simple moving average. As long as Bitcoin continues to trade near this level, a neutral environment could remain dominant and support the development of a broader consolidation range.
- $76,500 – Key Support: An important support zone that aligns with significant lows observed in previous weeks and remains a key reference within the current structure. A move back toward this area could place the existing bullish trendline at risk and open the door to more relevant selling pressure within the market.
