Equities Week Ahead: Broadcom, Costco & Greggs

By :   Fiona Cincotta , Senior Market Analyst

Broadcom Q1 earnings preview

Broadcom will report Q1 earnings on Wednesday, the 4th of March, after the market close. These come as the share price fell in the sessions following sector peer Nvidia's Q4 results, where it beat both earnings and revenue forecasts but still failed to impress investors, highlighting how high the bar has become to overcome jitters surrounding the AI trade.

Looking back to Q4 Broadcom earnings, the share price also slid despite the chipmaker beating forecasts. Broadcom posted EPS of $1.95 in Q4, ahead of the $1.87 forecast, on revenue of $18.02 billion, ahead of the $17.47 billion forecast.

Turning to the outlook, Broadcom guided for Q1 revenue of $19.1 billion, marking a 28% increase over the same period last year. Profitability, however, could come under pressure due to low margins.

How to trade AVGO?

Broadcom trades in a falling channel dating back to mid-December. The price recently failed to push above the 50 SMA and the upper band of the falling channel, rebounded lower, and fell below the 200 SMA.

Sellers will look to extend the downtrend towards 300, the February 4 low. A break below her creates a lower low, opening the door towards 280, the lower band of the falling channel.

Costco Q2 earnings preview

Costco has already given investors a sense of what to expect in Q2 based on its monthly sales results.

The recent sales figures showed that Costco reported net sales of $21.33 billion in January, a 9.3% increase from last year. It said that net sales for the first 22 weeks of its financial year came to $23.16 billion.

Costco’s results released in December beat forecast at $65.89 billion, up 8.2% year on year, whilst comparable sales jumped just over 6%. Meanwhile, EPS came in at $4.50, up from $4.04 the previous year.

The results come as investors watch major retailers for a sense of consumer behaviour, particularly as households struggle with higher prices and concerns surrounding the jobs market.

How to trade COST?

Costco recovered from the 842 low, rising above its falling trendline and 200 SMA to a peak of 1028, an 8-month high. The price has since eased back to around 1000, at the time of writing. However, the uptrend remains intact, however momentum is slowing.

Buyers will look to rise above 1028 to create a higher high towards 1060, the May 25 high.

Support can be seen at 950 the 200 SMA. Below here, sellers could gain traction toward the February low at 930.

Greggs full year results

Greggs will report full-year results on Tuesday, March 3rd. These, after the High Street bakery, had a strong finish to 2025 with sales growth accelerating in Q4 to 2.9%, driven by improved menus and later opening hours. The opening of 121 new shops over the year was fewer than originally planned. Pre-tax profit guidance remains intact to land it around £173 million, down 9% year on year

With these figures already priced in, investors will be keen to hear guidance for 2026. Costs are starting to look more favourable; however, there are still plenty of other challenges, including changes to tax rules, minimum wages, slowing UK economic growth, and cost-conscious consumers. As a result, expectations are for underlying profits to remain flat in 2026.

How to trade GRG results

Greggs trades below its falling trendline, its 200 and 50 SMA in a downtrend. The price recovered from the 1400 low but ran into resistance at the trendline, rebounding lower to test support at 1550. Sellers, supported by the RSI below 50 will look to extend declines towards 1400.

Should the support hold, buyers could look to rise above the 1675 resistance zone, the falling trendline resistance.
