Vodafone Group (VOD) is a British telecommunications company primarily traded on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) with a secondary listing on the Nasdaq exchange. Vodafone shares are available to trade as CFDs with FOREX.com.
Vodafone primarily operates in Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Vodafone’s subsidiary, Vodafone Global Enterprises, provides telecommunications services to large corporate clients in 150 countries.
Vodafone first began through a merger in 1981 involving Racal Electronics, then the UK’s largest provider of military radio technology. In 1991 Racal Telecom demerged from Racal Electronics and became Vodafone. The name Vodafone comes from combining the first few letters of voice, data and phone, the latter stylized as ‘fone.’
