Santos market insights

Pivot points are a technical indicator that traders use to predict upcoming areas of technical significance, such as support and resistance. They're calculated by averaging the high, low and closing prices of a previous period. That could be a day, a week or a month.

If a market is trading above its previous pivot point (known as P), it is seen as a bullish signal. If it is below, it is bearish.

Support and resistance levels are a core part of technical analysis, providing crucial insight into possible future price reversals.

Santos details

Santos (ASX:STO) is an Australian natural gas company engaged in the exploration, development, production, transportation and marketing of hydrocarbons and technologies – including carbon capture tech and storage.

Santos’s products include gas, ethane, liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). It primarily sells gas domestically, but its liquid gas and oil products are sold internationally. As such its price is linked to natural gas and crude oil markets – the higher the price of commodities, the more revenue Santos generates.

Santos shares trade on the Australian Securities Exchange, or ASX, and it’s a constituent of the ASX 200 index.
