Weekly Fundamental Cryptocurrency Forecast: Risk Appetite Continues to Decline
Cryptocurrencies have begun to show a decline in short-term confidence as new market concerns emerge, pointing to a lower appetite for risk and, consequently, reduced demand for high-risk investments such as digital assets. For now, market confidence has not fully recovered and continues to show weakness, affected by the Federal Reserve’s indecision and the strength of safer assets like the U.S. dollar, which have gradually diverted investor interest away from the crypto market. As this lack of confidence persists and the sector’s outlook becomes less attractive, selling pressure is likely to remain dominant in the coming sessions.
Is Risk Appetite Fading?
This week, key economic events reinforced the uncertainty among central banks, particularly the Federal Reserve. The minutes from the October meeting revealed a lack of consensus regarding early rate cuts, while September’s NFP data surprised to the upside, with 119,000 new jobs versus expectations of 53,000, suggesting a temporary recovery in the U.S. labor market.
These developments have reduced expectations of rate cuts in December, keeping credit costs high and the risk appetite low. As a result, investors have shifted toward safer instruments, such as U.S. Treasuries and the dollar, limiting cryptocurrency demand and triggering capital outflows in the short term.
In fact, the Open Interest indicator for the crypto market continues to decline toward the $29.5 billion level, reflecting a reduction in long positions and profit-taking—clear signs of weakened risk appetite and declining buying interest as sessions progress.

As long as the high interest rate environment persists, investors are likely to favor stable assets, maintaining steady selling pressure on the crypto market, particularly on BTC, in the coming sessions.
Bitcoin vs. Other Markets
Recent movements in Bitcoin (BTC) show an increasingly inverse correlation with safe-haven assets such as the U.S. dollar. On average, over the past 50 sessions, the correlation coefficient has remained below -0.5, indicating that as the dollar strengthens, BTC tends to weaken. This coefficient, however, may fluctuate over time.
This trend illustrates that the cryptocurrency market, led by Bitcoin, is in a phase where it is unattractive both as a risk asset and as a safe haven—facing lower demand compared to traditional markets and higher volatility. This suggests that, as long as the risk-off sentiment prevails, investors will continue favoring stable assets such as the U.S. dollar, whose ongoing strength has reduced interest in cryptocurrencies.

Additionally, the crypto market’s relative volatility remains elevated, with most major cryptocurrencies showing daily fluctuations above the five-day average. On a monthly basis, with the exception of Cardano (ADA), the sector’s volatility remains high, increasing risk perception and limiting crypto’s role as a store of value, even in the medium term.

In summary, as long as the negative correlation with traditional markets continues and volatility remains elevated, it will be difficult for the crypto market to establish stable demand, likely leading to persistent selling pressure in the sessions ahead.
Confidence at Its Lowest Point
The lack of confidence in risk assets is clearly reflected in crypto sentiment indexes. The Fear & Greed Index, published by CoinMarketCap, shows its worst reading of 2025, currently around 11 points, well below the average seen in April, and remaining in the “extreme fear” zone.

This drop in confidence aligns with the prevailing risk aversion. As long as the index remains at such low levels, it will be difficult for crypto demand to recover in a sustained way, which could maintain the market’s structural weakness in the short term.
