Japan 225 Nikkei 225

The Japan 225 is FOREX.com’s market on the Nikkei 225, Japan’s headline benchmark stock index. It features 225 major stocks listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and has been calculated since 1950.

Unlike many other key indices – with the exception of the Dow Jones (Wall Street) – the Nikkei is price-weighted, which means constituents with higher share prices have the greatest influence on its value. Other indices use a capitalisation weighting instead, which places more importance on stocks with a bigger market cap.

Key constituents on the Nikkei include Toyota, Sony, Nippon, Softbank, and Nintendo.
