The Australian dollar faces a key test in the week ahead with the Reserve Bank of Australia’s rate decision on Tuesday to be following by domestic CPI data and China’s PMI data, both on Wednesday. The RBA is expected to raise interest rates by 25bp. Strong GDP, hot inflation and tight labour market are among the reasons.

Apart from inflation and oil prices, one of the other reasons why the Fed has become hawkish is to do with economic data. Last month’s employment data was much stronger than expected. Another strong showing could see the Fed go ahead with another hike at its October meeting.
