EUR/JPY market insights

Pivot points are a technical indicator that traders use to predict upcoming areas of technical significance, such as support and resistance. They're calculated by averaging the high, low and closing prices of a previous period. That could be a day, a week or a month.

If a market is trading above its previous pivot point (known as P), it is seen as a bullish signal. If it is below, it is bearish.

Support and resistance levels are a core part of technical analysis, providing crucial insight into possible future price reversals.

EUR/JPY overview

The EUR/JPY currency pair is a combination of the euro and the Japanese yen. JPY is the quote currency and EUR is the base, so EUR/JPY tells you how many yen it takes to buy a single euro.

EUR/JPY is one of the most-traded 'minor' currency pairs – that is, pairs that pit major currencies against each other instead of the US dollar. It represents two of the biggest economies in the world: the eurozone and Japan.

Like other pairs with JPY as the quote currency, a single pip of movement in EUR/JPY is valued at the second decimal point, not the fourth.
