Although most cryptocurrencies started 2026 with consistent bearish corrections, several factors have begun to reshape the outlook during the current week. The increase in institutional interest, the narrative surrounding alternative assets, and the de-escalation of certain geopolitical tensions have allowed several cryptocurrencies to start showing a more relevant bullish bias. As confidence continues to recover, this renewed buying pressure is likely to concentrate mainly in large-cap cryptocurrencies, as market activity has increasingly focused on these assets.
Risk Perception Eases
The beginning of the week was challenging for market confidence due to speculation surrounding a potential military intervention in Iran, following violent protests within the country. However, around January 13, the White House clarified that it had no intention of intervening militarily, triggering a broad de-escalation of tensions and allowing confidence in risk assets to begin recovering.
This shift enabled the neutrality observed earlier in the week—particularly in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin—to give way to a more consistent bullish performance. As a non-traditional asset, this has also reopened the door for global portfolios to reconsider short-term exposure to the crypto market. While this recovery has not been uniform across the entire market, key cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum managed to close the week in positive territory, reflecting a rebound in demand driven by the return of risk appetite following the easing of adverse geopolitical scenarios.
This short-term improvement is also evident in institutional demand. Bitcoin ETF net flows have returned to positive territory, posting three consecutive sessions of capital inflows. On January 14, the day following the geopolitical de-escalation, ETF inflows totaled more than $840 million, highlighting a rapid recovery in institutional demand for Bitcoin.

A similar pattern is beginning to emerge in the retail segment. Indicators tracking active Bitcoin addresses have shown consistent growth since geopolitical tensions eased, currently approaching 842,000 active addresses, levels not seen since the first week of January. This increase in network activity may be linked to growing short-term demand for Bitcoin.

As overall risk perception across financial markets diminishes, conditions are emerging for a more stable demand environment for risk assets such as cryptocurrencies. Although this behavior is not yet reflected evenly across the entire market, it is already becoming evident among the leading crypto assets. This reduction in risk aversion could help sustain a more meaningful buying pressure in the crypto market over the coming trading sessions.
Bitcoin Versus Other Markets
As the benchmark asset, Bitcoin has once again begun to show a relevant positive correlation with traditional markets such as the S&P 500, the leading U.S. equity index. Recent correlation coefficients are posting positive readings that are attempting to consolidate above the 0.5 level, suggesting a stronger positive relationship. This indicates that as equity markets have maintained a consistent recovery, Bitcoin has started to replicate similar demand patterns in the short term. It is important to remember that correlation coefficients can change over time.

This behavior suggests that the reduction in risk perception benefiting equity markets has also begun to support Bitcoin price action. If risk appetite continues to recover gradually, it could lead to more consistent demand across the cryptocurrency market, unless a negative fundamental catalyst emerges in the coming sessions.
Looking at relative volatility, the crypto market is also beginning to show signs of greater short-term stability. Currently, Litecoin is the only cryptocurrency displaying volatility levels above its weekly average, while the rest of the market remains relatively stable compared to the beginning of the week. When contrasted with assets such as crude oil, which continue to exhibit elevated volatility across one-week, one-month, and even one-year horizons, this perception of stability in certain cryptocurrencies may be helping sustain a more consistent buying appetite, supporting the recent price recovery.

Overall, the combination of improving stability and a rebound in risk appetite appears to be benefiting parts of the crypto market. These factors could prove critical in sustaining more stable demand and a more consistent buying pressure in the sessions ahead.
Confidence Returns to the Market
The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has posted a notable recovery in recent sessions and is currently hovering around the 50-point level, firmly within neutral territory. In addition, the indicator’s trend remains positive, suggesting that a gradual recovery in crypto market confidence is beginning to take hold in the short term.

As the index continues to stabilize and attempts to move toward the “greed” zone, it may be signaling an increasingly consistent demand appetite. This could eventually translate into more meaningful buying pressure in some of the leading cryptocurrencies over the coming sessions, in line with the broader recovery in risk appetite recently observed across financial markets.

Crypto Analysis: Is Selling Pressure Making a Comeback?
As October enters its final stretch, one of the most relevant developments in the cryptocurrency market is that, after several weeks of neutrality, a more consistent phase of weakness is beginning to take shape. Throughout the week, none of the major cryptocurrencies has managed to sustain meaningful gains and, instead, selling pressure has gradually regained control across the sector.

Crypto Outlook: Is Binance Attack Hurting Market Confidence?
As October comes to an end and the cryptocurrency market enters the final stretch of 2026, a renewed phase of weakness is becoming increasingly evident across the sector. Most major cryptocurrencies have struggled to maintain consistent demand and have once again started to underperform compared with other financial markets.
